When Connor started with the Intermodal division of Jillamy in 2021, he hit the ground running and was determined to learn the ins & outs quickly. In a very short amount of time, he has shown his ability to problem solve and think on his feet, a skill that is hard to come by in an employee. His dedication to our customers, sales and Jillamy has shined daily.

5 Questions with Connor

What branch of the Military did you enlist in?
I enlisted in the Air Force National Guard in 2018
How long have you served?
I am currently in my 6th year of service
What made you decide to enlist?
Originally, I was looking for new experiences and new options for my future career. I had done 2 years of college and didn’t really enjoy the major I was in, so I enlisted to create more opportunities for myself. The Air National Guard felt like it had the flexibility to allow me to dive into a military career and experience new things without having to fully commit to the military lifestyle and so when I was finished my training, I was able to come home and start school again as well as begin working full time at Jillamy in 2021.

What was the most rewarding part of your service experience?
Although I originally joined for the opportunities in my career and schooling, I feel very thankful as the Air National Guard organization and the people that are a part of it have been the most rewarding part by far. Everyone I interact with in the service are amazing people and I have had some of the best experiences of my life traveling and working with all of them. I got to go do things that I never thought were on my horizon and met some of my best friends while doing it.
How is working at Jillamy as a member of the National Guard?
Working at Jillamy while serving in the National Guard has been nothing but a worry-free experience. Everyone has been understanding of my responsibility to the service and work with me to make sure that operations run smoothly when I have to step out of the office for military duties. The management is always helpful and I have been able to temporarily deploy several times while working at Jillamy without any issues. The policies in place to help support people who are serving are some of the best I have seen a company offer, including the extra PTO for people who are serving.
